Nursing about Pain Management

Pain management plays a crucial role to improve the quality of patient’s life. The pain can be managed by the administration of different types of medicine mainly include opioids like morphine & codeine, non-opioids like acetaminophen & NSAID’s. Excessive intake of pain medication may cause serious side effects like drug tolerance, physical dependence, drug addiction, pseudo-addiction. Nursing practitioner should train the nurses regarding these side effects and inform them any other ways to treat pain without using any pain medications like acupuncture, massage, hot & cold therapy and pet therapy.
